A reframing of “should.”
Yesterday, there was exploration of “should” and the “I’m not good enough” energy it can trigger.
I took another walk today (again my glasses were in my pocket) and the “should” became clearer.
“Should’ has power because of what we make it mean.
What I make it mean.
There is a tool in coaching (that a number of you have probably heard me use). “What do you mean when you say…?” It is an acknowledgement that we all have different filters, different lenses. And words carry different meanings, different energies for everyone. A word that triggers me, has some heavier energy associated with it, may not trigger someone else.
So a new option for the word “should.”
“That action matters because….”
It is a question that starts to uncover the motivation behind the action.
The energy behind the action.
Does the answer resonate with who you are as a 100% human and 100% spiritual being?
Does the answer resonate with your current value system?
How true does it feel for you?
